Today, I logged in into my wp-admin dashboard of my blog and I was quiet surprised that I have 3 posts draft waiting to be finished and published. I wonder how long it’s been since my last post and I bet that it was around 3 months ago. How is it going with my life? Let’s find out!

Well, I have been busy lately with univ work but however the amount of workload I’ve received is still in reasonable amount though I have to work extra hours and nights coz all of the assignment is done individually (my ego and my own decision). Entering the week 11, I only have roughly 2 weeks before I finish this semester and hopefully everything goes accordingly and I’ll be graduating by the end of the year. My exams schedule is also official and it’s gonna be Information Retrieval (IR) exam which is on 26 October 2009; the next exam follows within 2 days time interval, 28 October 2009, and it’s gonna be Internet and Intranet Document Engineering (IIDE); and the last exam is roughly a week after which gives me some spare time to having it prepared, and it is Computer and Internet Forensics (CIF). The study period is going to end on 16 October 2009 which gives the student a week study and preparation period (SWOT VAC).

After finishing all the exams, I still have an IELTS test going on which is gonna be on 7 November 2009 and the bad news is I haven’t done any preparation so far and will do soon. What I’ve done the most is reading more articles and hoping that my general knowlegde expands (I know that I might sound a little bit naive, but I do hope so) which in the sense will help me in Speaking part. I do hope that I can get a band of 7 the first attempt but then I am not really sure about that, and I am planning to have a second attempt when I am going back to Jakarta and it’s gonna be on 21 November 2009. Yes, I am going back to Jakarta on 14 November 2009 and planning to spend some quality time there as I will be having my BiNus University graduation (the date of which is not yet known, what a shame for such University). I also will be preparing some legal documents for my TR/PR application and hopefully everything is ready just before I am going back to Melbourne.

It comes across my mind to have the third attempt on IELTS test just before I am going back to Melbourne on 5 December 2009 (FYI, I am going back to Melbourne on 7 December 2009) but I am still considering about this coz the payment fee for IELTS test is no longer as cheap as back in two years ago. Well, let’s see as I havent carefully think about this.

Anyway, that’s roughly the series of activities I’ve planned to do within the next 2-3 months. I really hope that my study is going well coz at this point I am really tired of studying and learning process and I have enough I guess.

One of the reasons for my absence in blogging is because my other fellows who used to be blogging (attention to Pxang and Kurniady) are on absence as well. I noticed that yesteday Pxang has started his blogging activity again and have the new blog running on blogspot.com (visit his at http://pisankblog.blogpsot.com), what about the others? Kurniady? hahaha…I know that He is very busy with the work in Google though

Well, I guess that’s all I have to write in this entry and have to think to finish the other drafts as well. I think I need to start being active to update my blog as it’s again hopefully help me in writing part for IELTS test (I dont wanna sound naive but it’s true).

Adios and Cheers from Melbourne….

A question that needs a heart to answer
==================================
It was about a week ago, when we had this interesting conversation between me, Arly, and Glen in IA (Imaging and Animation) class. The conversation was begun after Glen (if I am not mistaken) talked about his interest on MAYA, Autodesk (3D software). He said that it is probably the one that he is going to take it very seriously into the future, the point is He wants to learn MAYA seriously now and later in the future finds a job that requires a specialty in MAYA probably game development (character development and stuffs). The next second (at this time Arly wasn’t joining our conversation yet, he was still looking at his attic modeling), Glen told me that He somehow lost the interest to learn this MAYA software, the reason is (probably) it’s kinda hard for a newbie such as us, there are EXTREMELY a lot of tools to learn in MAYA and plus you have to know the technique to properly use them when you model something. When you have the willingness to learn something new, the way to learn them is not easy, it’s hard and it’s always be. (Arly out of nowhere joined the conversation, I didn’t remember the detail though but I’ll tell the point) Arly said it is somehow not right to learn something just for the future, coz it’s probably the reason that slows down the process of learning itself. Glen on the other hand still argues that He should learn MAYA to help him find a professional job later in the future…This conversation goes back and forth (it was pretty hot that time though, I wasn’t talking much that time but I was listening)

The point is now, not to judging who is right and who is wrong. I myself (after the conversation was over and we left the class) start to think, what’s the purpose I am learning all the stuffs in university life? what are they for? Am I going to find a job that suits what I have learned back then? This point onward I am thinking. Finally I come up with own conclusion…for me, ‘Learning is a fun process’ and I don’t wanna lose the fun part because I have to learn these stuffs for my professional career later in the future. Well, that also doesn’t mean that I don’t care about my future; I do care and I always do but I don’t wanna force and push everything into my future, I just want to let it go.

After these years, I guess I am still the old me who says "you’ll never know what the future holds, The very least thing you could do is sit back, relax, and have fun of life". What I learn right now is things that are required to be fulfilled by my course provider, some of them don’t but it’s my hobby. There are four different things I am learning right now for my courses: Adobe Flash (Design for Interactive Media 1), ASP.NET (Web Development Technologies), JAVA (Software Architecture and Design), and MAYA (Imaging and Animation). Out of the 4 choices, I put a huge amount of interest only on ASP.NET and Adobe Flash. I shaped out my future and later I probably will find a job that requires specialty in Web Development (Web Designing is more preferable). Everything I learn about new things on web, my heart beats so fast and even faster like it wants to dig out more and more. I don’t know why but I guess it’s my nature and sort. Besides those two, I now learn ASP.NET AJAX, Microsoft Silverlight, Microsoft Expression Blend, and Adobe Flex. All of them are tools to help me visualize my wildest imagination on web. This is I guess the purpose why I learn them all, it is to fulfill my hobby, not only for my future and sort.

Probably some of you come out and do not agree with me. You may have your own opinion and conclusion about this topic on top of mine. There is definitely no right and wrong answer here, but as the topic says (if you read on the top) it does requires a heart to answer such question: Learning? What is it for? Your future? or Else? The point is like I said "You’ll never know what the future holds, does all the hard work you’ve done so far will bring you into a bright future? or The other way around?" Consider the old saying "Life is like a wheel, it keeps on turning upside down as long as you’re on it"

Cheerz,
~PeterAoKi ["I'm not creative enough as you are, @orangedan.net"]

NB: I don’t have any intention to discredit and offend Arly and Glen, but it is very interesting topic for us I guess.

it’s been a while since my last post on my blog (geezz….I am starting to hate these set of words as my opening, lolz). The assignments for the first semester @ RMIT almost driving my life to insanity, I should say it was pretty close though. Now it has ended, no more assignments at all. I just wanna thank God and all my friends who have been very supportive for the first semester, couldn’t be more easier without your help guys. Well, the final result of all of the assignments were absolutely stunning for me, and I am well-satisfied with the result at the end (soon I post all the results at my website).

Beginning of semester at RMIT, we were given 6 choices of major for Computer Science student. Right now, I dont remember all of them but I can tell that all BiNus 2009 students who comes to RMIT are split into two majors. Me myself, Glen, and Arly chose "Multimedia Design" and the rest of use chose "Business Application". I was kinda stuck at the beginning though between "Multimedia Design" and another major named "Web Systems". I was a pretty hard choice though when I finally decided to pick "Multimedia Design". It was a perfect choice actually at the very beginning coz I learn design essentials here but in the end it wasn’t that perfect. I know regretting this decision won’t help me to achieve my goal, what I am trying to do is cope with it and make the best out of it.

Next question is probably, why "Web Systems"? Straight off, the truth is I love Web especially Web-Designing as it has became my hobby and I am willing to take this hobby of mine to the higher level. I knew Web or should I should I say WebSite in better understanding when I was in high school, that time I joined "WebDV" club, which stands for Web Development club. Basically what we did everyweek is to learn and produce a website for BiNus HighSchool. I was starting to learn HTML and stuffs, Multimedia Flash (now Adobe Flash), Adobe Photoshop (that time version 6.0), etc. I kept on continuing to learn all about web since then till right now. Along the process, I learn how to create an eye-catching website which can be simple or complex yet still stunning. Stunning and Eye-Catching is probably my own benchmark when I design a website; whether it is easy to use or user-friendly centric I don’t really care. I just want everyone when they see my design, the first word that comes out from their saying is "Wow….amazing". The fact is "my heart beats so fast when I see such a stunning website, I guess the beauty that resides inside a website is just incomparable with anything"

If it is so perfect about "Web Systems", why dont I choose it since from the very beginning. Well, that was my mistake I guess, I should go thorough with the available choices after all. Right now, what I have to do is to cope with my own consequences as a result of my decision. I just dont want to live my life in such a regret, probably when I went through everything all out once again I’d say "What the hell? Why don’t I choose Web Systems? So stupid of me!" But, on the other hand I was fully satisfied since I chose "Web Development Technologies" as my elective course. I learn extremely a lot of stuffs here about web development especially the User Interface part, which I assume will help me to produce even more stunning website later in the future. I thank God for His brilliant path for me yet I myself have decided not to live in regret with this decision. Because of this course, I finally decided that I will go serious about this web-designing and I am pretty sure that this is the job I really want later in the future.

Final thought is, probably everyone has made a mistake in their life, and some of them create such a regretful drama in the book of life. A page is written down already with this we all know as "UNERASEABLE INK", it has become a part of our life. The Page that cannot be erased nor torn apart. What we can do is to "repaint" that pages, add some decorations and drawings, so that in the end when we through that "page", it won’t be that messy as it was first, big time. This is what I am doing right now, add my own decorations to that "page". What about you guys? How are you going to face such a situation? Completely Cross-it off from your book and starting to write the same title all over again but with different story? or Stick with it but just like me, add some decorations, so it looks much nicer and better?

You decide!

Cheerz,,
[Simple yet Stunning]
~PeteRAoKi

The last couple of weeks in case you happened to read or hear from the news, the world is now facing a global pandemic of swine flu. It is shocking and terrifying because until now there is no cure to this disease just yet. The flu is known to be originated from Mexico, but in my opinion the validity of this fact has not been confirmed as the disease is spreading too fast in reality. Australia is also facing the reality that large numbers of people who reside here have been infected with this disease. How is it growing? Is it true that now Australia is dangerous country to visit? or this is just a rumour? I’m no expert at describing how the situation is really happening here but I’ll try to share what I’ve read and heard from our local news, in case that there is a mistake please do correct it by posting your comment.

Singapore is the first country to give a travel warning to its citizen for coming to Australia. This fact states that it is already not safe to travel to Australia. I don’t what really happens in another state of Australia, but in Victoria the case is growing quiet fastly. Another states such as New South Wales (NSW), Brisbane, etc once gave a warning not to travel to any part of Victoria. At this point, I don’t have any idea whether it is really safe to travel to Victoria, however if you decide to travel to Australia you just need to believe nothing bad is going to happen; you don’t have to be panicking. I can’t deny the fact that thousands of people are now infected and several deaths caused by this swine flu have been confirmed. In my opinion, you don’t to worry and you can still enjoy your winter holiday here in Victoria.

You guys, probably wondering what on earth I am daring to say this. Well, again I am no expert to any of this medical thing; one thing for sure that I know ’swine flu’ is just another type of flu just like ‘bird flu’ (well yeah, logically speaking the name says what the disease is or otherwise the name wouldn’t be flu). I know that you guys roughly know what to do in order not to get caught in flu.

Stay healthy all the time!

Some of us are in holiday or semester break period, the temptation not to sleep early is very strong coz usually we got no time to do activity beyond the normal sleeping time, some of us have lecture/school in the morning or afternoon; but now we do have more time. Sleeping “in the morning” could affect our immunity system to flu, we are more susceptible to flu that way. To prevent such thing to happen, drinking Vitamin C beverages surely help (I am no expert but experience does not lie). Sleep earlier whenever possible. To those in winter season, check your daily outfit; I don’t think tripel-ing your clothes at this period would do you any harm rather than getting yourself cold.

The point is in my opinion is safe to travel to Australia regarding the fact as I have mentioned above (thousands are infected and couples death are confirmed). You have to stay alert and stay healthly all the time! You know what to do, the same thing here. People don’t need to worry; the world is suffering and better yet medical scientists are working to find “a perfect cure” to this disease and it’s about time before they find it out.

p.s: in case you want to confirm what I’ve written please do post a comment and I’d gladly make necessary changes

Happy Holiday and Cheerz from Melbourne,,,
