RMIT. Di RMIT untuk beberapa subject tertentu (well, most of them; ok, some of them), assignment-nya dipukul rata buad semua murid, which means there is only one single problem to be solved. Contoh: semester lalu gw ambil pelajaran Software Architecture and Development (which obviously is, Programming 3 or P3). P3 basically advanced level programming of Java. But, in my opinion it is not (menurut gw ngak segh =p). Nah di P3 subject di assignment 1 kita dikasi one single assignment which was disuruh bikin Master Mind Game (kalo pernagh maen game di Handphone Siemens SL45, ada game ini) tp disuruh implementasi pake Socket. Ok, well….obviously, at the very beginning the course coordinator has specifically specified the marking criteria. For Example: The Game should support multiplayer up to 6 player or etc.

In my humble opinion, I don’t really like such a system. There are several reason though.

• The first one, it limits our creativity. Basically, karena game-nya udagh di tentuin and semua peraturan-nya udagh ada jadi-nya brasa-nya gag seru lage, karena semua orang ngerjain soal yang sama. And banyak limitation pula, misalnya gag boleh pake 3rd party plugins, etc. Di course2 yg seperti ini, berasa banget klo creativity kita disini di limit ama pihak university. Jadinya, final result-nya cuma standard doank. Mengingat, kalo kita masuk ke dunia kerja biasanya tempat kita kerja itu punya plugins2 mereka sendiri. Kita harus bisa pake donk tentunya. Untuk bisa pake, kita harus ngerti concept-nya dulu donk. Nah kalo creativity kita aja dilimit, gimana kita maw maju??? Kalo ditanya, knapa kamu pake Socket dulu pas ngerjain Master Mind Game? Some people probably gonna say something like this “karena diminta-nya begitu, jadi maw gimana yah”. Coba, kamu implementasi-kan ulang Master Mind game kamu tp pake C# ato C++ !! *doenk*! Pak, emang di C# ato C++ ada Socket? lolz. Nah concept-nya aja gag daped jadi boleh dibilang fundamental-nya gag ada.
• The second one, karena assignment-nya sama jadi jawaban-nya most likely bakalan kurang lebi sama orang lain. Bagi orang yg males and punya temen segh enak, tinggal nanya gimana jawaban dia, ubah2 dikid, implementasi ulang lah istilahnya, oprek2 dikid kalo ada salah,,,jadi! =p Jadi, very prone to plagiarism. Yah, bilang-nya segh ngak =p Ok, skarang kamu coba bikin ulang yagh, kita ubagh dikid rules ama requirement-nya jadi-nya skrg Master Mind-nya (lage2x gw ambil contoh master mind) gag cuma combinatorik 4 angka, tp combinatorik 10 alphabets…again, *doenk*….lah 10 pak??? dolo kan cuma 4? lolz

Kalo diteliti lage segh apa yg gw tulis diatas, gw gag bilang system-nya jelek lho =p, it’s just my opinion…Ok, ada juga sisi bagusnya koq.

• Karena disuruh-nya implement pake a, b, c, d….maw gag maw kita harus pake donk a, b, c, d….kalo ngak pake nilai kita dipotong ntar.
• Bagus buad tutor, gag usagh pusink2 ngertiin jalan-nya program kita. Karena soal-nya cuma 1 brarti kira2 back-end structure-nya bakal sama semua donk, tinggal liad front-end result-nya aja….Kalo front-end result-nya salah, brarti back-end otomatis salah =p

And gag semua subjects begitu koq system-nya. Buad Lecturer yg punya wawasan luas and mengerti kalo di DUNIA ini gag cuma ada 1 jalan yg pasti segh, mereka bakal kasi kita solve pake cara apa aja asal jalan…Loe maw bikin Linked List sendiri and gag maw pake List library yang udagh disiapin pun gag masalah, toh yg repot loe juga :p

BiNus. Di BiNus lebi flexibel and creativity kita lebi di-adu untuk buad project yg lebi bagus dari standard yang udagh ada. Kalo di RMIT ukuran kita tuh (kira2x) cuma sebatas High Distinction (HD) or Distinction(D) or even Credit (Cr) or Pass (P). Tp di BiNus, berhubung kita ngak taw kalo misalnya kita bikin project A pake Framework B bakal daped nilai brapa; di satu sisi menurut gw ini jauh lebi seru daripada bikin project A pake Framework A (Framework A yagh anak2x, bukan Framework B ato Framework C and bukan yg laen-nya lho, inget lho Framework A….kalo salah potong nilai neh). Dengan implementasi yang teserah kita sendiri jadi kita bisa tentuin kira2x kita maw project kita se-advanced apa. Karena creativity kita ngak dilimit, jadi ngak heran donk kalo project2x anak BiNus boleh dibilang keren2x (in my opinion, project anak BiNus keren2x dibanding disini segh; again IMO).

Tp drawback-nya dari system yg seperti ini. Ngak semua apa yg kita pelajarin di kelas bakal di implementasi-kan di project kita, jadi ngak ada certain standard dari sisi back-end structure. Contoh: murid A maw bikin project AI bikin game dengan pake solution A*; murid B maw bikin project AI bikin game juga dengan solution DFS doank neh. In the end, murid A bakal lebi ngerti solution A* daripada murid B and vice versa (logically, harusnya terjadi seperti ini lho….emang segh bisa aja murid B ngerti semua kalo dia dewa). Kalo di RMIT, semua murid diharapkan (again, DIHARAPKAN…) mengerti apa yg mereka sudagh pake karena udagh ada standard-nya…jadi kalo group A pake Socket buad bikin Master Mind, and group B pake Socket buad bikin Master Mind game juga and kalo kedua2-nya sukses, brarti kesimpulannya: group A == group B donk….apa yg group B ngerti, group A juga harusnya ngerti and vice versa (bener donk,,,, projectnya aja sama, framework-nya sama, back-end nya aja sama)..

Disini, gw kasi RMIT 1 point buad standardisation and gw kasi BiNus 1.5 points buad unlimited creativity and implementation (creativity 1 point and 0.5 implementation). Masalah plagiarism (terhadap murid yg lain), RMIT lebi prone to plagiarism karena project-nya sama and back-end nya kurang lebi sama satu ama yg lain; BiNus karena project-nya beda2 jadi susagh donk murid2 maw nyontek kerjaan murid lain kecuali kalo murid tersebut ambil langsung mentah2 source dari internet. Jadi RMIT minus 1 pointt karena lebi prone terhadarap murid yg lain di sisi plagiarism, BiNus juga minus 1 point karena bisa langsung comot dari inet ato source lain.

Jadi in the end, RMIT masi 0 point and BiNus baru 0.5 point. Sementara ini, BiNus wins 1 point. Di next entry gw bakal bahas masalah lecture and tutorial experience in Learning process. Apakah BiNus masi bisa mempertahankan posisi-nya? Let’s see…

I ordered my Razer just 2 weeks ago, that time American Dollar was quiet high I didn’t realize until I was about to pay them through PayPal (FYI, this is the first time I used PayPal, lolz). Everything basically wen smooth without any trouble till I got my payment process cleared and my track number on FedEx. Last Thursday I tracked them down and it is estimated to arrive by the end of Friday which was sound perfect to me. But, then I tracked it down again during the break and found out that it has arrived and received by the Front Desk. Friday morning, I headed to Front Desk straight away and ask for my delivery package. The whole Friday I didn’t got a single chance to open my package because of the submissions I need to finish. But then 20 minutes just after Friday, I got my chance to unpack my delivery.

Talking about the quality, it is just slightly above the average but then Razer for is my lifestyle, it is my preferences to choose Razer for my gaming stuffs. It’s like why I choose Reebok over Nike? It is just my preferences. I included some of the pictures anyway so whoever read my blog has an idea what the hell I wrote

Singapore is the first country to give a travel warning to its citizen for coming to Australia. This fact states that it is already not safe to travel to Australia. I don’t what really happens in another state of Australia, but in Victoria the case is growing quiet fastly. Another states such as New South Wales (NSW), Brisbane, etc once gave a warning not to travel to any part of Victoria. At this point, I don’t have any idea whether it is really safe to travel to Victoria, however if you decide to travel to Australia you just need to believe nothing bad is going to happen; you don’t have to be panicking. I can’t deny the fact that thousands of people are now infected and several deaths caused by this swine flu have been confirmed. In my opinion, you don’t to worry and you can still enjoy your winter holiday here in Victoria.

You guys, probably wondering what on earth I am daring to say this. Well, again I am no expert to any of this medical thing; one thing for sure that I know ’swine flu’ is just another type of flu just like ‘bird flu’ (well yeah, logically speaking the name says what the disease is or otherwise the name wouldn’t be flu). I know that you guys roughly know what to do in order not to get caught in flu.

Stay healthy all the time!

Some of us are in holiday or semester break period, the temptation not to sleep early is very strong coz usually we got no time to do activity beyond the normal sleeping time, some of us have lecture/school in the morning or afternoon; but now we do have more time. Sleeping “in the morning” could affect our immunity system to flu, we are more susceptible to flu that way. To prevent such thing to happen, drinking Vitamin C beverages surely help (I am no expert but experience does not lie). Sleep earlier whenever possible. To those in winter season, check your daily outfit; I don’t think tripel-ing your clothes at this period would do you any harm rather than getting yourself cold.

The point is in my opinion is safe to travel to Australia regarding the fact as I have mentioned above (thousands are infected and couples death are confirmed). You have to stay alert and stay healthly all the time! You know what to do, the same thing here. People don’t need to worry; the world is suffering and better yet medical scientists are working to find “a perfect cure” to this disease and it’s about time before they find it out.
